In this article, we’d like to provide answers to many of the frequently asked questions we get from future students about flight training at CFA during the pandemic. If you’d like immediate assistance, please call us directly at +1 619 448 2212.
What flight training is currently offered by California Flight Academy (CFA) during the pandemic?
All new students who desire to become a professional airline pilot can continue to participate in all phases of flight training including private pilot, instrument rating, and commercial multi-engine ratings. Aside from flight training, the Federal Aviation Administration of the United States (FAA) requires Ground School and Radio Communications courses, which are currently offered 100% online by CFA. You can take your flight training and online courses at the same time. For more information about online learning at CFA, please click here.
Will the pandemic disrupt my flight training once I get started?
No. Flight training is designated as an “essential business”, which means we are able to continue providing flight training during the pandemic.
How does CFA keep me safe?
At CFA, we have implemented additional safety protocols to provide the safest and cleanest environment possible. All students are required to wear masks on campus, sanitation stations are provided, and aircraft are cleaned between flights. We have had no breakouts so far. Additionally, aircraft are inspected after every flight and maintained above FAA standards.
Is it a good time to become a pilot in the middle of a pandemic?
Yes, we confidently believe so! According to one of the largest aircraft manufacturers, Boeing, demand for air travel and demand for professional pilots is expected to completely recover to pre-pandemic levels within three years. What this means to you is that by starting your training now, you can complete your online coursework, flight training, and build the flight hours you need to secure a pilot position once jobs for pilots rebounds. I’m an international student – can I train at CFA in San Diego?
Yes, however, most international students who travel to CFA in San Diego, California, must first obtain a U.S. Student M-1 Visa. We can assist you with this process; however, because of the current pandemic, visas and travel may be restricted from your country of origin. We encourage you to contact your local U.S. embassy or consulate to obtain more information by clicking here.
